Hoof Handling & Training

The most important factor in training a horse to have his hooves handled and trimmed is the dedication of the horse's owner. I can come to your farm and give you exercises to do with your horse to prepare him for hoof handling, however, I cannot be the one to work with him daily. You will need to follow through with the exercises on a daily basis until your horse can stand nicely without stress for the trimmer.
If your horse is having difficulty in any area of handling, first review the articles in our Horse Training section. Also read Hoof Handling and How do I Handle my Young Horse's Hooves?
If you are still having difficulty or need help with these exercises, please call me for an appointment.

Influences

|
My main influences in horse training have been John Lyons and Pat Parelli. I prefer to use a common sense approach that teaches the horse to enjoy our company and enjoy working for us. Some of my other influences have been Clinton Anderson, Buck Brannaman, and Monty Roberts.
You can read more about the techniques I use in the Horse Training section of our website.
