This Paint mare had flat feet, massive over-laid bar, flaring, chipping,
white line separation and underrun heels. After just a few months,
the mare has begun to develop some nice concavity in the sole, chipping and
flaring has stopped and heels are no longer underrun. Her contracted
heels have also expanded. The white
line separation should completely grow out over a course of the next
couple trims.
Lifestyle: Daily turnout, trail horse.

July 3, 2004 -- AFTER Trimming

|
For the first trim, I trimmed the heels to place them further back under the bulbs and base of the limb, relieved pressure on the overlaid bars to allow sole to grow in thicker and callous, relieved pressure in the wall at the quarters and rounded off the jagged hoof walls.
