Healthy, Sound Hooves

The following photos are from our archive of healthy, sound, working horses. These are fully functional hooves of active riding and/or driving horses that are sound on all types of varried terrain from soft sand to rocky trails. We hope that these pictures will help you to develop an eye for what a healthy, sound hoof should look like. Some of these hooves were just trimmed, and some of them are due for a trim and showing normal overgrowth.

Every horse, every hoof, and every situation is different... but good, functional hoof form is consistent among all of them.
